Acts 2:6-7 (NASB)
6 And when this sound occurred, the crowd came together and they were bewildered, because each one of them was hearing them speak in his own language. 7 They were amazed and astonished, saying, “Why, are not all these who are speaking Galileans?
This Word came to me after reading about the day of Pentecost and everything that took place. And what the Lord was showing me, or should I say what the Lord made me zero in on, was the multitude of people that were walking around the city of Jerusalem at the same time the Holy Spirit came down and baptized the disciples in the upper room. As we read, the multitude of people gathered together to see what the commotion was, being both amazed and confused, seeing and hearing the disciples speaking in the people’s own language.
But, what I want us to think about is this: that the Pentecost experience wasn’t just about the men and women in the upper room, but also about the men and women outside. Even though some of the onlookers mocked because they did not understand, It was Peter who stood up and proclaimed the Gospel of Jesus to the crowd, resulting in three thousand souls being saved. The Lord then explained to me that our experiences (good and bad) as believers in Christ are not just about us. It’s about the people around us (family, friends, and co-workers) that are seeing and witnessing the move of God in our lives, secretly wanting it for themselves, but not knowing how to obtain it.
So, I ask you brothers and sisters to allow the Holy Spirit to show you who you are in Christ, to truly know your identity. Also, allow Him to guide you on how to accurately and correctly handle the Word of God to ensure it is understood and applied the right way. Last, but not least, allow the Holy Spirit to guide you in those moments on how to be vulnerable enough to share your experience and the Gospel to those around you.
Receive the blessings: Lord bless us and keep us. Make your face shine upon us and be gracious to us. Lord, lift us up with your countenance, and keep us in your peace. In Jesus name.
